I see it like this: as you mentioned in your other articles, the Japanese (and many other parts of Asia - and really, the rest of the world) lead an active lifestyles. Not through working out but through walking.

In America, where life is sedentary, it has become necessary to restrict carbohydrates, as they can be damaging to sedentary bodies.

Bottom line: I believe your lifestyle should determine the types of food you eat.
